Ever wondered how those idiots died in a horror movie? Well, that's what Scary Movie decided to change.
If you see a person wearing a mask and holding a knife, the first thing that you do is to run. The second step that you do is to throw a piano at him while he's chasing you up the stairs. Don't believe me? Watch it for yourself in Scary Movie, which was released back in 2000 and dealt with a mish-mash of all the horror/slasher movies of that time.
Being a parody movie and taking jabs at famous franchises like I Know What You Did Last Summer and Scream, the Scary Movie debuted to poor ratings (which is usually the case for parody movies), but the makers didn't stop there. 25 years later, Scary Movie remains one of the most nostalgic movies from the 2000s.
How To Survive a Horror Movie Ft. Scary Movie

Now I know what y’all are thinking. I chose Scary Movie to be the center of attention. Well, this movie deserves all the attention it can get. While serious movies like Scream and Saw were trying to create tension and restlessness amongst the audience, Scary Movie felt like a take on these epic movies by a bunch of teenagers on opioids.
Of course, while seeing a horror movie, you might think that the characters are helpless and unable to defend themselves against the killer. However, in Scary Movie, odds are that you are better off as a dumb character than being a killer.
In Scary Movie, however, the only way to survive being stabby-stabby by Ghostface is to have a dance-off battle with him. You can also throw a piano down the stairs alongside a random person, dumbbells, and more to ward off the killer. That’s what Scary Movie taught me, and that’s what Scary Movie taught us. The mish-mash parody movie ends with a hilarious stint as collapsing bodies, pure stupidity, and a clumsy killer all come together at a party, and the face of the killer is revealed. Of course, you have to watch it to really get to know the greatness of this movie.
Scary Movie didn’t care about the great killers. All that the movie cared about was the way these stupid and dumb characters were able to outsmart the villains. Although it is supposed to be a comedic movie, it just tells you how easy it is to survive in a horror movie.
Serial Killers? More Like Serial Dumbers

Think about it. From enduring countless reboots of the same movies to having mini heart-attacks through cheap jumpscares, horror movies in the 2000s were really in the masses and pumping out killers like wrestlers on steroids (if you know, you know).
Through all the chaos of horror flicks and films that begged to be taken seriously, Scary Movie came out of the closet, put on some clown shoes, and forced people to turn their attention to this comedy movie that was a parody of everything serious happening around.
Starring Anna Farris as Cindy Crawford, Scary Movie didn’t just decimate one movie; it literally wiped out the whole genre of slasher flicks and horror movies, namely: I Know What You Did Last Summer, Scream, and The Sixth Sense.
It was like a kid running through a museum, and he was knocking down all these artifacts while constantly making adult jokes, and somehow… it was entertaining. That’s what’s so great about Scary Movie: it simply didn’t care about a legacy or a potential sequel. It was a passion project and a commentary about how Hollywood has a knack for making anything dramatic when all you need to do is simply lie down, relax, and have some fun.
