In a remarkable Indian Premier League 2024 face-off at Ahmedabad, Delhi Capitals (DC) notched a commanding victory over Gujarat Titans (GT) by six wickets. Opting to field first, DC showcased a formidable bowling attack, dismissing GT for a paltry 89 in 17.3 overs—GT's lowest-ever IPL score.

DC then raced to the target in just 8.5 overs, enhancing their net run rate significantly. Key performances included Mukesh Kumar’s outstanding bowling and a brisk batting display by DC's lineup.

Gujarat Titans opted to bat first but their decision proved disastrous as they were bowled out for a mere 89 runs, marking their lowest total ever in the IPL's history, surpassing their previous low of 125. Rashid Khan emerged as the top scorer, crafting a critical 31 off 24 balls, but his efforts were in vain as only two other batsmen, Sai Sudharsan and Rahul Tewatia, managed to reach double figures with scores of 12 and 10 respectively. The rest of the batting line-up crumbled under the pressure exerted by Delhi Capitals’ bowlers, with Mukesh Kumar taking the lead, claiming 3 wickets for just 14 runs in a spell that decisively tilted the game in DC's favour.

Delhi Capitals exhibited a stellar bowling performance that was pivotal in dismantling the Gujarat Titans' batting line-up. Mukesh Kumar, the standout bowler, ended his spell with impressive figures of 3/14, including crucial wickets that halted any momentum GT might have hoped to build.

He was well supported by Ishant Sharma and Kuldeep Yadav, each taking important wickets at critical moments. Ishant's fiery spell and Kuldeep's strategic spin bowling ensured that GT's innings never got going. The tight bowling restricted GT to scoring at a dismal rate, ultimately all out for 89 in just 17.3 overs.

Aggressive Chase by Delhi Capitals

In response to GT's modest total, Delhi Capitals approached the chase with clear intent and aggression. The innings kicked off with Prithvi Shaw and Jake Fraser-McGurk, who set the tone early. Despite losing Shaw early to a bouncer from Sandeep Warrier, DC maintained their aggressive posture.

Notably, Rishabh Pant, known for his fearless batting, smashed a significant six off Rashid Khan, propelling DC closer to their target. This aggressive batting approach ensured that DC did not just aim for a win but did so in a manner that would boost their net run rate significantly, completing the chase in just 8.5 overs.
