He was involved in several major projects, such as the construction of the Krishna Raja Sagar Dam in Mysore, the design and patenting of automatic weir water floodgates, and the establishment of engineering colleges and institutions. In 1955, he received the Bharat Ratna, the highest civilian honour in India. He passed away in 1962 at the age of 100.
