This year, we Indians were particularly excited because of the hope that the Indian films were going to bag some awards at the ceremony. The results certainly didn't disappoint as 2 of the awards were won by Indian movies. Let's take a look at the winners of Oscar, 2023.

Best Picture: Everything Everywhere All At Once

Everything Everywhere All At Once is an American sci-fi comedy film written. and directed by Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert. The movie revolves around a Chinese-American immigrant and her encounter with a parallel universe. She must connect with the parallel universe to stop the destruction of the multiverse. The movie starred Michelle Yeoh, Stephanie Hsu, and others.

Best Actor: Brendan Fraser
(For "The Whale")

Brendan Fraser is a Canadian-American actor who made his debut in the movie "Dogfight (1991)". Brendan won the award for Best Actor for his role as Charlie in the movie "The Whale". The movie revolves around the life of an English teacher with morbid obesity who tries to work on his relationship with his teenage daughter. The movie is based on a 2012 play of the same name written by Samuel D. Hunter.

Best Actress: Michelle Yeoh

Michelle Yeoh Choo Kheng is a Malaysian actress who rose to fame in the 1990s through her roles in some Hong Kong action films. Since then she has worked in a lot of Hollywood movies including Memoirs of a Geisha, Sunshine, etc.

She won the award for Best Actress for her role as Evelyn Quan Wang in the movie "Everything Everywhere All At Once". Evelyn is a discontented and overwhelmed laundromat owner who came to the USA a couple of decades ago. The movie revolves around her life and her fight to save the multiverse.

Best Director: Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert

Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert, also known as "Daniels," are a filmmaking duo best known for their unique and visually stunning music videos and films. They have directed music videos for artists such as The Shins, Foster the People, and Everything Everywhere All At Once, and their debut feature film "Swiss Army Man" starring Paul Dano and Daniel Radcliffe was a critical success at the Sundance Film Festival in 2016. They began working on this project in 2010. It took them nearly 12 years to bring this project to the screen.

Best Supporting Actor: Key Huy Quan

Ke Huy Quan is a Vietnamese-American actor and stunt coordinator best known for his roles in iconic movies such as "Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom" and "The Goonies." He plays the role of Waymond Wang in the movie "Everything Everywhere All At Once" who is a goofy husband of Evelyn.

Best Supporting Actress: Jamie Lee Curtis

Jamie Lee Curtis is an American actress and author who rose to prominence in the late 1970s and early 1980s, starring in horror films such as "Halloween" and "The Fog." In the movie "Everything Everywhere All At Once", she plays the role of an IRS inspector.

Documentary Short Subject: The Elephant Whisperers

The Elephant Whisperers is a Tamil-language short documentary film directed by Kartiki Gonsalves and produced by Guneet Monga and others. The plot of the film revolves around the story of a couple named Bomman and Bellie who take care of a baby elephant named Raghu. They go through a great number of painful endeavors to protect Raghu. The movie is set in Mudumalai National Park.
